I started running when I was a freshman in High school for Brockport High school. I fell in love with the sport shortly after that. I was part of the 2008 Class AA section V champions. During track season, I was a 2 miler. I knew in high school that the 2 mile was not my race. It was too much of a sprint. I decided that once I graduated college I would run a marathon. In college I was a 5k/10k runner for track. I liked the 10k a lot finishing college with 4 wins in the 10k. After graduation I took sometime off of running as I had a hard time not being part of a close knit team unit.
In January 2015, I graduated Brockport with my Masters. It was at this time that I decided I was going to run a marathon. I had previously taken the last year off as my last real race was the 2013 Rochester Half marathon (which was done on a dare). I signed up for the Buffalo Marathon and started my training. My goal was to qualify for the Boston Marathon. In my marathon debut, I was riddled with stomach issues that cause my time to slow. I was still able to run a 3:01.29 which was 4 minutes faster than the BQ. Since then I have run 3 other marathons, including Boston, 6 half marathons and lots of 5k’s. I most recently ran the Erie Marathon, in which I lowered my marathon time to a 2:55.54, again qualifying for Boston. In december i will start my training for the 2017 Boston Marathon.
