My name is Lauren Samar and I’m 22 years old from Buffalo, NY. I’m a 5th year Biomedical Engineering student at RIT as well as a Health Coach in training. I’ll be graduating from RIT in May 2017 and a fully certified Health Coach in July 2017 but I do not have a set plan for after graduation just yet. In terms of more fun things like fitness and running, I was a dancer for 15 years prior to RIT but I started college in 2012 over 30 pounds heavier and 3-4 clothes sizes larger than I am now. For the first two years, I lost weight due to walking a lot more on campus as well as just not eating junk food/drinking sugary drinks. It wasn’t until after my 2nd year that I went all in with CrossFit and running. I started with 1.5 mile runs and worked up to a 10k within 4 months and a half marathon 6 months after that 10k while CrossFitting 5 times a week. Since then, my training has shifted depending on where I am (on campus vs. working full-time), what my goals are, and just learning what works for me. But regardless of the shifts, I have continued to run and to weightlift/CrossFit and I have completed 5 half marathons as well as my first 26.2 in September 2016! I may have signed up for another marathon 5 days after finishing my first too! Other hobbies (during my very little free time) include Netflix, crocheting blankets, crafting, and reading. Feel free to connect with me on Facebook to talk or to just to connect.
