Checkers 3k recap and Grand Prix results
December 8th, 2024. A squad of intrepid Roadkill Racers journeyed to Buffalo to partake in the ninth and final race of the USATF Niagara Grand Prix series: the Checkers 3k, held in Delaware Park. Fifteen of us lined up with a cheery chunk of Checkers runners, a few Genesee Valley Harriers, and some Bergen Elite runners. Snow and ice covered some of the course, but we were undaunted. Well, some of us were daunted, but we didn’t let on.

Just a scant few minutes after the starting pistol was fired, racers started crossing the finish line. After all the runners had finished and the scores were compiled, the results were in.
Open Men finished third.
Open Women finished second.
Masters Men finished second.
Masters Women didn’t show up, because they had second place in the series locked in already and didn’t even need to run this race to win series money!

On that note, this final race marked the end of Roadkill Racing’s most successful year ever! Three out of our four teams came in second and won money in the Grand Prix series. The only team not to bring in a prize, the Masters Men, finished just one stinking point out of second place, and GVH had to bring their big guns to this race to knock us out of the money. To say RKR has come a long way is quite the understatement. We are officially a force to be reckoned with! Congratulations and a huge thank you to everyone who raced for us in 2024! For now, we rest up and prepare for next year!
