Roadkill and the Flower City
Last week I did an extensive post about my wife’s great Flower City performance. This week I want to highlight the other great performances by Roadkill Racers that day.
David Rappleyea led the way for the team with an impressive 3rd place finish in 1:11:07. This was Dave’s best half marathon performance in a number of years and puts him on track for a great Buffalo Marathon in a few weeks. Dave was using the race as a tune up for the marathon and a way to gauge his fitness. Things are looking good for a marathon PR in Buffalo. Dave is aiming to run another sub 2:30 marathon, something in the 2:26-2:28 range.
Brett Smith was out burning off some pre-wedding day stress (congrats, Brett!) His time of 1:20:04 is a few minutes off his course best, but we will cut the soon-to-be-married man a bit of slack this year.
Joe Williams was the first masters runners this year, beating out Tim Dwyer by 40 seconds. Joe was hoping for a sub 1:26 time and just missed his mark running 1:26:10.
Blake Landry ran a half marathon PR in a time of 1:35:38. He has lots of people around his pace to help him push hard to the finish.
Joe Haungs, facing a loaded 50+ field, finished 4th in his age-group in a time of 1:30:56.
Arlene Dejoy was running for “DeJoy of it” in memory of her late husband Jason DeJoy. Her stellar time of 1:41:50 was secondary on a special day for her.
Lauryn Recchia not only ran a PR but achieved her goal of breaking 2 hours for the first time. Her 1:56:53 is just one in a long line of PR’s I’m sure she is going to run this year.
You can see all the results here.
A special thanks to Ron Heerkens for taking so many great photos of the race.
