RKR Feels Lucky at Running of the Green

Following yet another snowstorm the day before this race (much like Tipp Hill), the Roadkill contingent once again showed the meaning of the word grit at the Running of the Green Five Miler in Rochester. Undaunted by freezing wind and slushy roads, an incredible number of Roadkill Racers took to the streets in the second race in the USATF Niagara Grand Prix series.

Last week, the Open Women won on account of there being no other teams. This week, the Open Women won on account of being the best of the three teams! Proving that their first place finish at Tipp Hill was no fluke, the women’s team consisting of Trisha Byler, Laine DiNoto, Jackie Tobin, Blair Benson-D’Alesandro, Alexi Bulloch, Ashlie Roberts, Lauren Goodfellow, and Jenna Hanley beat Bergen Elite and GVH to nab another 14 points in the series!

Showing that they too are fierce competitors, the Masters Women finished second behind GVH. Marie Davis, Kaye Treanor, Jeanette George, Valerie Kean, Valerie Vermuelen, Lisa Gardner, Lora Marrapese, and Martha Doody once again demonstrated that consistently showing up can produce great results! In doing so they earned another 9 Grand Prix series points.

Masters Men also finished second behind GVH. Drew Caffrey, Dave Adams, Dan Sackett, Jesus Melendez-Vicente, Rich Kean, Scott Laffer, and Patrick Marrapese all ran well to secure another 9 points in the series.

The Open Men faced stiff competition, but managed a strong fourth-place showing against Syracuse Track Club, Bergen Elite, and GVH. The team, comprising Kenny Goodfellow, Aaron Nobles, Brett Smith, Dave Bradshaw, Kraig Connor, Luke Dunkelberg, Pete Sullivan, Matthew Roberts, Matt Palmer, and Jeremy Cook tried their best but just couldn’t catch GVH for third place.
