Roadkill Racing: Beer + Glory

roadkillracing_

Based in Rochester, NY, RKR was founded in 2009. We are a part of @usatfniagara. Will run for Beer and Glory!

With @swain_mountain_race fast approaching, let’ With @swain_mountain_race fast approaching, let’s look back at some of your Roadkill teammates in action during last year’s edition.  For those accustomed to roads, Swain serves as a brutal gut check, leading many to question their life choices as early as halfway up the grueling first climb.  However, the exhilaration felt from crossing the finish line after tumbling down that final descent is well worth the three months of therapy to follow.

Finally, here’s the wrap-up of Summer Speed Fest Finally, here’s the wrap-up of Summer Speed Fest from just over a week ago. Yes, yes, we know… The 3K Championship was yesterday, and Summer Speed Fest was SOOOOOOOOO NINE DAYS AGO… Like, Oh Em GEEEEEEE!!! 😱😱😱

Patience, Fools! We can’t just crank out these witty, juvenile reels in minutes.

Anyways, all of your Roadkill faithful who made it out to the meet had an absolute blast competing with friends old and new, and there were several standout performances highlighted in the chaos you’ve witnessed onscreen. Finally, cheers to @carlyg__dpt of @ontrack_physicaltherapy for putting on a fantastic inaugural edition and making it FUN! Hopefully, this event will grow and attract even more runners in the future.

What’s this??? A giant, peeling sunburn scab??? What’s this??? A giant, peeling sunburn scab??? Has the apocalypse finally arrived???

Why, no. It’s just the final stretch of lane 3 at Fairport’s all-weather track. Word has been floating around for the past several years that the archaic 6-lane track was due for an upgrade. Looks like it’s finally about to happen.

Either that, or giant, track-eating zombie bunnies escaped from Stinky Farm just down the road across from the Perinton Rec Center and went to town.

Regardless, lane 1 was still mostly intact as of this morning, but those of you who run your speedwork regularly at Fairport High School may need to find alternate arrangements for the foreseeable future.

Sometimes running is about racking up the miles, h Sometimes running is about racking up the miles, hitting the track 2-3x a week, and grinding hard to reach that elusive PR. But there are times in life when it’s just about showing up with no expectations, seeing what you can do, and treasuring every step.

Aaron, Alexi, and Molly… Your Roadkill Racing family wishes you a great big congratulations on your first 5K all together as a three-human unit! Be careful… She might catch up and outrun you both someday. 😉🙌👶🏻

June is heating up to be a scorching month at the June is heating up to be a scorching month at the track, with several events to test your ability to race one, four, seven-point-five (7.5), or twelve-point-five (12.5) laps:

1) The McMullen Mile – Friday, June 6th: Held annually in earlyish June, this track mile honors Rochester running legend Charlie McMullen, celebrating his accomplishments in running, as well as the positive spirit he carried throughout his life. Hosted by the @gvharriers at the St. John Fisher track, the first heat starts at 6:15pm.

2) Summer Speed Fest – Friday, June 20th:  Brand new in 2025, Summer Speed Fest will be held at the St. John Fisher track starting at 6:00PM. 3) USATF Niagara 3K Track Championship – Saturday, June 28th: Mark this one on your calendars, as this is the third race in our 2025 @usatfniagara Championship Series, which will be held at Roberts Wesleyan University. The meet tentatively begins at 9:00AM. Stay tuned for more specific details.

Hope to see lots of you at the track in June!
2025 Mountain Goat Recap: Time to recognize all o 2025 Mountain Goat Recap: Time to recognize all of the team members who represented Roadkill Racing at last week’s @mountain_goat_run. All of you were tough and ran extremely well on one of the most challenging courses around. In addition to your strong individual performances, we performed extremely well on the team level… the highlight being our Open Ladies, who captured a first place finish.

Speaking of “team”… While team scoring is obviously divided into 4 different categories based on gender and age, that doesn’t stop us all from working together in races. A quick glance at the overall results shows seven Roadkill members snagging finishes between 32nd to 46th place, within minutes of each other… Trisha (Masters Ladies), Laura and Inga (Open Ladies), Jack, Luke, and Jonathan (Open Men), and Pete (Masters Men). Even though we may all be scoring for different categories, it’s nice to see so many working together and feeding off each other’s energy during these races.

Well done, All!!!

Next up for Roadkill in the @usatfniagara series i Next up for Roadkill in the @usatfniagara series is the @mountain_goat_run, a 10-mile race ascending two of the most challenging road climbs Syracuse has to offer.  We love this event for a multitude of reasons, the most obvious being that conquering hills on the roads automatically makes you BADASS. In addition, the route has been thoughtfully laid out to give participants a tour of some of the best parks and green space within city limits.  Add in frenzied spectator support and a killer afterparty, and you’ve got one of the best running events in the region.

On the team front, Roadkill veterans @rkrmatt and @kennygoodfellow have been fiercely training for this year’s edition.  Some have even expressed concern that the Roadkill stalwarts have taken their training tactics to the extreme, in a manner that is highly questionable.  However, rest assured that the Oreamnos americanus species reassignment surgery, while experimental, is only temporary and should wear off by Labor Day… great news for their families and loved ones.

In the meantime, good luck to all runners and participants!  And remember to clean up after your mountain goat.

While Roadkill Racing is obviously a team centered While Roadkill Racing is obviously a team centered around running, we place just as much emphasis on family when it comes to participating in USATF events and team gatherings, where all spouses, partners, kids, and even furry friends (venue permitting) are welcome!  With that in mind, we’d like to take a moment to recognize the accomplishments of the Simning family this past weekend at the Flower City Half Marathon.

Many of you know @ingasimning from her recent success at setting multiple push-up and pull-up world records.  Since joining Roadkill and training regularly with the team, not only has Inga shaved seconds and even minutes off several of her own PRs, she and her husband Adam have inspired both of their daughters to lace up their trainers and join them on the run.  That inspiration was on full display this past Sunday, as all four Simnings conquered the Flower City course, battling 20mph headwinds along certain stretches.  Inga and daughter Mira were first across the line in 2:04:44, with Adam and daughter Raiya not far behind in 2:13:08.

Well done, Mira and Raiya!  We can’t wait to see what challenges you decide to tackle next!  And Kudos to Inga and Adam for encouraging their girls to big dreams!

Introducing the 2025 Roadkill Racing Boston Marath Introducing the 2025 Roadkill Racing Boston Marathon team. For this year’s edition, a mix of Boston first-timers and seasoned veterans will be toeing the starting line in Hopkinton.

Congratulations to Kraig Connor, Cami Cortez, and Jordan Brouk for making their inaugural trip to Boston! Joining the Beantown virgins are AJ Hameline, who’s running his third Boston Marathon, as well as perennial veteran Tim Dwyer, who’s run Boston every year since King John singed the Magna Carta in 1215.

Current weather predictions include a low of 40 degrees overnight Sunday, with a high of 58 degrees on Marathon Monday. Let’s hope the “sun and clouds mixed” forecast leans toward the cloudy side.

Good luck, @kraigruns, @camryn.cortez, @_jordan_river, @ajham4, and @dwyer2012 … Have fun out there!
