Running up that hill

Breaking the tape in style!

Saturday, August 5th saw a surprisingly large number of brave runners venture to Swain Mountain ski resort for the USATF Niagara Mountain Running Championships. Consisting of approximately 6.5 miles up, down, up again, back down, and then still back up and down the mountain, it was a challenge for even the most seasoned racers.

Roadkill Racing had a large, enthusiastic contingent, and showed that we are just as competitive on the mountains as we are on the roads and track. Our incredible masters women won, and the open men placed second. In fact, the inestimable Lindsay Piraino won the women’s race with a blazing time of 1:08:44 and a smile on her face!

After this race in the series, the open women are still in first place, and the open men are a close second to Bergen Elite. The masters women are in second by just one point, and the masters men are holding steady in third place. Let’s keep this momentum going and see what we can accomplish for the rest of the series!
